Items you should bring with you (if possible)
If you are able to prepare your leaving date, then you should bring the following things:
- ID card(s), residence permit, certificate of temporary suspension of deportation (ger. Duldung), temporary stay permit (ger. Gestattung)
- Cash, bank card
- health insurance card(s)
- important documents such as: most recent notice on the approval of unemployment benefit “Arbeitslosengeld II“ (ger. ALG II-Bescheid), rental contract, birth certificate(s), divorce decree, marriage certificate, housing allowance notice (ger. Wohngeldbescheid), child support notice (ger. Kindergeldbescheid), decision letter from BAMF (Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge – engl. Federal Office for Migration and Refugees)
- a good amount of clothing
- mobile phone/charger
- your child’s (or childrens‘) school supplies
- toys, your child (or children’s) favorite stuffed animal
- important medication (if needed)
- keys of your previous apartment
Your safety and the safety of your child (or children) comes first!
If you do not have enough time to pack everything you need because you are in a situation of imminent threat, do not worry. You can, of course, still come here so that you are safe. We can get all important items from your apartment later.
