Counseling for adults
We offer counseling to adults who are impacted by domestic violence or stalking and are in immediate danger. If you chose to call the police for help, the officers will inform us about your case (only upon your permission), as we have a cooperation agreement with the Leipzig police department. Once we are informed, we can call you back within a few days later. Of course, you can also call us directly – if it is possible during our office hours. (see “Contact Us“ for office hours)
We will work through your personal situation and offer you a safe space where you can openly talk about your story. Together, then, we will figure out solutions. At all times, your safety comes first.
In general, our counseling focuses on:
- crisis intervention
- identifying your current situation
- relief and support in understanding your personal situation and finding options for your future
- risk analysis – together we will create a protection and safety plan
- providing information about the different ways the police can help you and about the scope of the Act on Protection against Violence (ger. Gewaltschutzgesetz)
- identifying recurring cycles of violence (spiral of violence)
- addressing your children’s needs and right to protection by offering counseling for children and teens
- helping you find ways to rebuild your life and move forward
- referring you to safe houses or apartments for women, children or men
- referring you to lawyers, forensic physicians, counseling centers for men, family and education counseling centers
We focus on crisis intervention. Therefore, we are unfortunately not able to offer long-term trauma support or therapy but we are happy to refer you to professionals who provide these services.
